I have tried unsuccessfully to try to repair my leaking fuel stopcock valve on my 1982 Honda GL500. I determined that replacement was imminent however no OEM or aftermarket part is available. Replacement requires a custom machined adapter to match a generic stopcock valve to the fuel tank.

I found several brands of generic stopcock valves that will work. In Jan 2009 I was quoted an estimate of $60 US to manufacture the adapter to make the generic stopcock valve fit.

I have put a lot of work into developing the specifications for the adapter and want to make them available to you. below are the specs I developed:

Dear Sir,
I need an adapter to replace the fuel stopcock valve on my motorcycle fuel tank. The OEM part is no longer available. I need the adapter to fasten the after-market valve (NTPF threaded) to the fuel tank (ISO Metric threaded). The specs for the adapter are included.

Besides following the specs, this job has one additional requirement: I want the handle of the new stopcock valve to be facing somewhat outward to be accessible to the rider. Depending on how the parts fit, the adapter may need to rotate an additional 180 degrees, which would require a little extra drilling and tapping.

M18x1 I.D. to 1/4-18 NPTF I.D.

M18x1 (metric) female compression fitting to 1/4-18 inch NTPF female fitting

Custom made adapter using aluminum or brass hex block with two opposed threaded female fittings: an18mm x 1mm compression fitting (inlet) and a 1/4 - 18 inch NTPF fitting (outlet).

Hex block: 7/8 x 1 ¼ inches is the preferred size. Block must be smaller than 0.92 inches wide (1.64 inches diameter) to maintain clearance of interference while turning but larger than 0.83 inches wide to allow 3mm minimum wall thickness. Hex block should be at least 1.25 inches long to accommodate female fitting depth but no longer than 1.5 inches to minimize stress on attached parts.

Pilot: made with drill through entire length of the block at the radial center of the hex block. Diameter should be less than or equal to 1/4-18 NPTF pipe tap drill because it is the smaller of the two ports.

Outlet: made with 1/4-18 NPTF pipe tap drill to a depth of about 3/8 inch at center of pilot (on opposite side of block from inlet), followed by a 1/4-18 NPTF plug tap.

Inlet: made with M18x1 tap drill (17mm) to a depth of approx 1/2 inch at center of pilot (on opposite side of block from outlet), followed by an M18x1 plug tap, followed by an M18x1 bottoming tap. Fitting should be tested to check alignment of valve handle. Valve handle should be aligned away from center of fuel tank to be accessible by the operator.

Hey all.

I'm looking for the following Interstate parts

Fairing brackets. The curved right and left side brackets that mount to the bottom sides of the fairing with two bolts and also mount to the frame.

The entire tall trunk lock assembly. Key not needed, lock cylinder needed.

Hinge and catch for tall trunk top cover.

Half a dozen lock cylinders with all pins and springs in place.

saddlebag crash guards (CaNADA only please)

GL650 Interstate Parts (no replies)

Hi,
I have just bought a 1985 GL650 Interstate .It needs new front Brake Rotors and pads.
It also needs the front fork seals repaced as they are leaking.I live in New Zealand.Can anybody point me in the right direction to obtain these parts at a reasonable price.
Any help will be appreciated.Thanks
