Joseph G Oppman [jgo31337@juno.com] 01/06/2000 Just getting aquainted with the Internet and came across your web page. I have a 1983 GL-650 Silverwing. I added the factory side bags, and the extension rack for the large trunk and I have an Arthur Fulmer Windshield (no factory fairing). I originally purchased it with 8200 miles on it and presently coming up on 30,000. Great around town "scooter". I originally started out with a 1978 Honda CX 500 (Darth Vader look} used motorcycle, then in 1983 I purchased a brand new 1982 Honda GL-500 Silverwing, and sold it when I purchased the used 83 Wing. All of the CX's and GL's were excellent, with the exception of the H2O pump seal failure. I don't know if you have any ideas where I might be able to purchase some replacement side bags for my machine (silver in color with dark gray stripes), as mine have numerous cracks, and I have used clear silicone cauking to seal (from the inside) to keep them in service. I would like to have a spare set, so I can remove the ones I have and see if I can get them repaired. Also do you know of a replacment air filter other than Original from Honda which retails at $29.00? I have tried K & N Filter, however, this particular model motorcycle would not run with it installed. I am not new to motorcycling as I have been riding for 46 years on and off, mostly on during my later years. Presently have a Goldwing, Silverwing and a 1970 Triumph 650 Tiger with 18,000 miles on it. Slowlygetting it back together as I decided to tear it down and clean it up, however, didn't get back to placing it back together until 4 years later. Pretty tough when you have "senior moments as it is". Anyhow, appreciate any info you can give me on subject matter. Thanks, Joe |

you on the Net. I'm 52 and a "born again biker", after
much soul-searching (and many discussions with my bank manager!)
I decided to buy myself another bike after 25 odd years on four
wheels, but what? I thought, NOT a pocket rocket, (my back couldn't
take the crouching over!) so it was a custom or a cruiser. As
I didn't see myself as another Easy Rider, it was down to a cruiser,
but again, what? Then one day I saw a Silverwing Interstate in
Mulberry red and that was it, I was hooked, I paid my money and
sweating slightly, wobbled slowly off down the road. I've had
several quite expensive problems with it,(replacing the pro-link
unit and all the suspension bushes) but that was down to earlier
neglect and it's all starting to come together now. I like the
bike so much that I've just bought a CX 500, originally for spares,
but I'm seriously considering rebuilding it and putting it back
on the road. |

USA, to Norway. The bike is in very good condition, only 23000
miles, and looks like new. I would like to join your internet
